Julián Martínez Inclán was second year mechanical engineering student at the University of Villanueva in Havana. He was captured along with José Ignacio Martí Santa Cruz in Bahía Honda, Pinar del Río province, on December 27 on his way to start guerrilla operations at Sierra de los Órganos, Pinar del Río. He was tortured and hanged the next day by Batista's army troops under the command of Captain Jacinto García Menocal, who later committed suicide (January 1959) after being surrounded by Rebel Army troops. He, just like his honored peers, is a symbol of all of the men and women who gave their lives for Cuba.
