Jorge Jones Castro

Jorge R. Jones y Castro was born in Havana, Cuba, September 1, 1936. His parents were Carlos R. Jones y Diez Arguelles and Rosalia Castro Larrieu de Jones. He lived his whole life in Cardenas, Matanzas, Cuba. Attended his elementary school at Colegio de los Trinitarios, Cardenas. He studied at Belen Jesuit School for two years and graduated from the Instituto de Cardenas. He studied two years at Forham University, New York and went on to Universidad de Villanueva in Havana where he graduated with a law degree in 1960. He loved rowing and baseball. He played baseball at Villanueva while attending the university. He also rowed at several regattas for the Club Nautico de Varadero.

He arrived in Miami, Florida in October 1960 and went back to Cuba with the United States trained forces of Brigade 2506 to fight at the Bay of Pigs Invasion in April 1961. He was part of the Operacion 40 when he landed in Cuba. He was killed fighting the Castro forces on April 22, 1961. He was survived by his mother, father, two sisters, Rosa Maria Jones de Gutierrez and MAria Eugenia Jones de Sanchez.
