1934-35 - Intercollegiate Winner in the 800 and 1500 Meters. Ran the 600m in 1:39.6 1934-1935 Named “Jugador más útil” in F.I.A.C. Also most valuable player in basketball Selected to the All Star Basketball Team
Member of the 1934 and 1937 Basketball Conference Championship team. Member of the 1936 and 1937 Track and Field Conference Championship team.
An excerpt from Ecos de Belen 1936 “Cangrejero 100 por 100 oriundo de Cardenas la tierra del basket, no podia menos de distinguirse como “as” en ese deporte. Y aunque dicen que los cangrejeros caminan para tras, Ernestico nunca ha retrocedido, siempre ha adelantado hasta llegar hacer hoy la estrella indiscutible del team de basket-ball. Tiene como planes para el proximo año su ultimo curso en el colegio, romper el record en los 1500 metros y ser la mejor tercera base del proximo campeonato de beisbol.”
Attended the University of Havana where he played Varsity Basketball in 1937-1938.
Professional and Personal:
Received his degree in Doctoral Medicine from the University of Havana in 1943.
1967- received award from the disabled american Veterans for distinguished medical service to veterans.
