Coach Carlos Barquin

Athletic:
Graduated from Archbishop Curley where he was named to the 1967 Miami Herald All-City Wrestling Team.  
Later was a wrestling collegiate state champion in the 130 lbs. weight class.
Cross Country (1970 - 2000)
1970 - Began the Cross Country Program at Belen and won a District Championship in his first year.  First Belen Jesuit team to qualify for a state meet.
Compiled a lifetime 336-16 record with 22 unbeaten regular seasons, 22 District Championships, 7 County Championships, 
6 Regional Championships and  6 State Runner- ups.
1995 State Champions
1995 F.A.C.A. 4A Coach of the Year
Had more than 10 runners compete in Division I cross country.
Won over 30 major invitationals.
Track and Field (1973 - present)
Coached numerous medal winners in the sport:  Paco Ruiz (first State Medal Winner), and State Champions:  Eric Alvarez, Ignacio Garcia, 
Erik Montalvo, Jose Garcia, Edward Acosta, Javier Garcia-Tuņon and Mariana Ruiz (Carrollton).
Wrestling (1985-1990)
Founded the program in 1985 and coached first two Belen Jesuit wrestlers to qualify for wrestling state championships - Jeremy Longo and Albert Gross.
Personal and Professional:1969 to present - Has worked at Belen Jesuit Preparatory School
1983 - Began the Belen Summer Camp which has become the largest summer camp in Miami-Dade County.
Member of the All Catholic Conference Board, serves as Cross Country Commissioner, and member of the FHSAA Rules Committee.
Inaugural inductee of the All Catholic Conference Hall of Fame
Responsible for much of the athletic improvements at Belen Jesuit over the last three 
decades.  Oversaw the building of the pool, track, gymnasium, and de la Cruz Stadium.
Married to Romelia Barquin.  He has 3 children, 3 step children and 7 grandchildren.
